Cwm Clyd - Carthouse

Great facilities in great remote location.

Pros: Extremely clean and fantastic kitchen with all required utensils and cooking equipment. Great remote location. Loads of wood for fires, unfortunately, couldn't have a fire or pizza out doors due to weather. Great showers. Wife in the ongoing house.

Cons: Was a bit difficult to find the key boxes at first, and another group arrived at the same time, they joined the search too. It was dark when we arrived though. Light went off a few times I our room for no obvious reason, even if nothing else switched on. Ground between longhouse and part house became a little boggy with all the rain we'd had. Could do with a few comfy chairs to relax. Sitting on hard wooden benches with no back support was far from. Ideal for me.

Wow. Location. Very remote. Beautiful

Pros: Very comfy beds. Very clean. Very Well Kitted ogler kitchen. Showers hot and clean. All facilities really good

Cons: Driveway up To cwm Clyd. But part of the beautiful Surroundings So not that beautiful g an issue

Pros: Really good place to relax .No people just sheep and nature! No TV , silence and starry Nights!

Cons: Alarms but no problem to switch of.

Absolutely stunning and I think we will be back

Pros: Loved that we were the only ones there and the location was just stunning. Sat in the kitchen as a family and cooked a curry while playing board games with the log fire on.

Cons: No that we didn’t like it but when we got there the fire alarms were going off and we didn’t know what to do. Luckily I found the system and in a bag were some keys. I found out how to silence and reset it using the keys.

Excellent location for visiting Elan Valley with top quality walks and nature based activities

Pros: Excellent location and very quiet apart from a small nearby stream. Beautiful natural landscape and a calming atmosphere. Dark skies were great to see including the Milky Way and we timed our visit for a meteor shower which was spectacular. Amazing wildlife, lots of birds - Nuthatch were biggest I've ever seen - and we even spotted Polecats. Rivers and hills are all great, walking the reservoirs is stunning and can be as long or short jaunts. Don't miss opportunity to go inside Pen Y Garreg dam on one of the limited open days. As with any parts of UK countryside, take insect repellent if there's a hatch. Town of Rhayader is lovely with shops and local produce. Gilfach Nature Reserve is nearby and great too. Elan Valley visitor centre has all the info on the area dams, reservoirs and activities that you need.

Cons: Not a gripe but a comfy chair or sofa after a long day of walking the beautiful hills would have made it perfect.

Overall stay was great, would love to visit again.

Pros: The location of the carthouse was stunning,in the valley amongst the nature and the stream flowing by .Kitchen was above my expectations,it had all the appliances one could ask for. The bathrooms were sparkly clean and so was the kitchen and the bedrooms. Wifi was the unexpected bonus!! as the valley have network issues Wifi saved the trip.

Cons: Firstly the gravel passage was very annoying, our car could not pass through , we had to park it near the gate and do rounds taking the stuff up and down .It was very exhausting . Secondly, the beds were squeaky and the rooms need a heater as it gets cold.

Great location and really good shared facilities.

Pros: A wonderful place in a beautiful location. Exceptionally clean throughout and the barn that operates as a shared kitchen / dining area is really well kitted out with everything you would need. A great log burner with plenty of wood provided.

Cons: As there is no heating in the bedrooms and we went just after a very cold spell, this was a bit of a problem to some in our group!

Perfect, quite location with everything you need. Very clean.

Pros: Such a clean, tidy place, the community kitchen had everything and the log fire made the evening.

Cons: The rooms where very cold with no heating. This wouldn't stop me returning bit would do so with a heater.

Pros: Emplacement au milieu de la nature, très bien équipé. Très calme, très belle vue.

Cons: Pas de couvertures ni chauffage dans les chambres, prévoir en conséquence. Montée très abrupte pour accéder au logement.

Fantastic. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to get into the more remote areas of Elan Valley.

Pros: Fantastic location, comfortable, clean, all necessary amenities. A god-send at the end of a hugely challenging day of bikepacking.

Cons: Nothing.
