A peaceful cottage in the countryside

An idyllic cottage full of character and charm in a peaceful location

Pros: Beautiful location, cottage has been lovingly renovated and full of character. Spacious rooms and great facilities. Very comfortable beds, exceptionally clean. Great communication with the host, welcome basket of treats was much appreciated after our long hike. Even the log burner was prepared for us!

Cons: Nothing not to like about this cottage.

Made some beautiful happy memories with my family thankful for a gorgeous stay. And would love to revisit some time.

Pros: Home from a fantastic stay at Oakdene cottage, everything was wonderful and well thought through. Making our stay a comfortable & relaxing one. We loved everything about the cosy cottage, it was so clean and had everything we could’ve wanted and needed.

Pros: A beautiful cottage in peaceful surroundings. Lots of thought has been put into all things you might need during your stay, we had a great time playing UNO at the dining room table.

Pros: What a beautiful cottage, so cosy and welcoming. Had everything we needed. In a lovely quiet location, surrounded by countryside. Not far to drive to local amenities, with good eateries close by. The owner, Sarah, met us on arrival, she was really lovely and made us very welcome, even had a toasty fire going.

Comfortable, warm and relaxing break.

Pros: The cottage was in a quiet location (occasional traffic noise ) surrounded by countryside, with red kites low overhead and pheasants to be seen from the window. It was very cosy in the lounge watching the wood burner on a rainy, windy evening! We had a very nice break!

Cons: Unfortunately, the local farm decided to muck spread the field immediately outside on our first day, so we had the 'rural' smell lingering throughout the cottage!! Another very minor point - the layout of the kitchen equipment was a bit haphazard. We found ourselves opening every cupboard multiple times to find things!

Pros: A great standard of decor and comfort. Host was available if you needed anything. Recommend a good pair of walking boots for the area. Photos on the app are a true representation.

Cons: All though it's self catering we had planned to eat out. There are no restaurants within 5 miles open on Monday/Tuesday so provisions will be needed for home cooking.

Pros: One of the best booking.com we have done (and we have done a few). Sarah was waiting for us with the keys and showed us around. The cottage is lovely, beautifully decorated. It is surprisingly spacious for a 2-bed cottage, it has a lovely garden to relax in. The location is perfect for relaxing, walks or cycling. Newtown is just a 15-minute drive. Highly recommended.

Superlative accommodation, set in beautiful surroundings.

Pros: The location was easy-to-find, less than 5 minutes from the main road, but was nevertheless extremely peaceful and quiet. A private parking space is accessed from the road. Words cannot adequately describe the accommodation - it was exceptionally clean, spacious and VERY comfortable, with both a north-facing conservatory and a south-facing dining area. The centrally-located kitchen was large, with loads of cupboard space and a lovely side-by-side fridge-freezer. A large cloakroom is also located on the ground floor. Upstairs, the two bedrooms featured a double bed in one, and two single beds in the other, all extremely comfortable, and again with plenty of storage space. The bathroom has a large free-standing bath and a large shower cubicle, and all the rooms are very tastefully decorated. It is impossible to find anything negative to say about this property, and we will definitely be making plans to stay there again.

A well relaxed weekend. Easy to stay in cottage.

Pros: The cottage was well presented, and had a lovely cosy feel to it. In a nice peaceful area. Like that the TV had its own Netflix set up. Great garden to relax in.

Cons: Some of the utensils felt more like hand me downs for a well presented cottage. Bathroom window really needs a blind for night time.
