Quiet peaceful retreat, go to recharge

Pros: We loved the rural position, homely, spacious. Everything we needed and more. 2 log fires made it very cosy. Comfy beds. Amazing roll top bath with a view. Lou a great host. Yummy lemon cake and milk left. The driveway is a bit hairy but 1st gear and just take it steady. We will re visit for sure.

Lovely rural cottage with stunning views

Pros: Lovely little rural cottage located around 15 min drive away from Bala. Hosts contacted regularly, gave clear instructions for check in and house rules to follow. Was advised we could check in early which was a bonus. Owners provided teabags, milk, mince pies and fire wood for us. Nice and clean and beds were comfortable. There were board games for the kids to play and they loved exploring around the area. We went out one evening to a lovely little pub called the blue lion about 10 mins away, the staff couldn't do enough for you and the food was amazing.

Cons: Cottage is located at the top of a very steep driveway so be mindful of this when booking. We had to leave early due to snow as we would not have been able to get down if we stayed until checkout. Oven was slow at heating up. Sofas could have done with an upgrade as they weren't the comfiest to sit on. Not as close as we thought to Bala lake but within driving distance.

Peaceful break in a beautiful location - a great base to explore the area.

Pros: A lovely homely cottage in a beautiful remote location, with lots to explore in the area for us and our four-legged friend. Comfortable and warm with wood supplied for log burning stoves. We were lucky with beautiful weather which was the icing on the cake.

Cons: We have a nervous dog and were glad we went when we did as the shooting season was advertised from 1 October to 1 February. Lots of pheasants and grouse around at the end of September. Narrow single track lanes to get there but worth the effort.

Beautiful house with beautiful views and surrounding areas

Pros: This property is lovely and in a perfect rural location for peace and quiet. The house is a great size and had everything we needed, the beds are very comfortable and clean and the rooms are a decent size. The surrounding areas and views are beautiful. I only had little contact with the hosts but they were very helpful and lovely.

Cons: The house in general was clean, can’t complain about the surfaces, floors, beds or furniture etc, the only issue was there were a lot of thick cobwebs on higher parts of walls & ceilings in most rooms. Other than that our stay was great & would love to book again in the summer months. The drive up to the house is steep and my car struggled at first but after a few goes I got the hang of it.

It's like the film ' The Holiday'

Pros: The house was beautiful, a very old, used, cosy house in the middle of nowhere. Very private. And the beds! Wow! Like sleeping on a marshmallow. We loved the log burner that topped off the end of the day after walking in the cold and wet. The supplies with utensils etc was excellent. The views were stunning, especially waking up to the clouds being below you. This house would be beautiful in the summer with the surroundings.

Cons: The driveway up to the house was a little draughting at first, but after a few goes, you do get used to it. It's definitely not a driveway for low/ sports cars. The firewood was damp, so it was hard to get started at times.

A few days of relaxing in the countryside.

Pros: The location was lovely - seeing the nature around us. The wildlife. The peace and tranquility.

Cons: The steep drive up-to the properly is. Challenging. We had a mini country man which struggled at times. However once you achieve that then you are on an idyllic surrounding. There is a lovely balcony/terrace which would benefit from some seating.
