Shifty Chicken Shack

Pros: I stayed at the Shifty Chicken Shack for three nights while exploring the stunning landscapes around Trawsfynydd, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The cabin has a quirky retro charm with modern comforts — from the fully equipped kitchen to the cozy living space with vinyl records and mountain views. The location is perfect: peaceful, surrounded by nature, and just a short drive from Snowdon and Harlech Castle. Waking up to the serene views of the Rhinog mountains was a highlight each morning. The terrace and balcony were ideal spots to unwind after a day of hiking. The hosts were friendly and responsive, and everything was spotless on arrival. It’s clear they’ve put a lot of thought into making the place feel welcoming and unique. Highly recommend for couples, small families, or solo travelers looking for a relaxing retreat with character. I’ll definitely be back!

Cons: Getting a wifi and car charger for EV would be best for increasing the foot fall to the place further.

Pros: Great location. Lovely, helpful hosts. Comfy beds. Plenty of blankets. Quirky touches.

Cons: Needed a little maintenance.

Pros: -Very cosy little cottage equipped in anything one might wish -great outdoor sitting space perfect for a breakfast with a view -comfy beds (had a great sleep), plus comfy sofa and arm chairs- great for relaxing in the evening - wide selection of spices and kitchen supplies, teas, coffee etc provided -lovely and helpful host who stayed up late at night to make sure we arrive and enter the cottage ok

Pros: We had one rainy day - plenty of games, music to keep all entertained. Enclosed deck for the pup.

Cons: Local shop (reception) advertising fresh local produce, meat, bread etc never had any to purchase in shop, only eggs.

Last minute find - beautiful location and all facilities provided for - will definitely stay longer next time

Pros: It was very cozy with board games and a dvd player with lots of movies to pick from. The area was also really nice near a lake. The view from the porch in the morning was beautiful of mountains. The host was very accommodating of our requests. The kitchen was fully fitted. There were condiments provided. There was an amazing coffee machine and teas provided. Well heated as well. I would highly recommend for friends and family.

Pros: Loved all the personal retro touches and the stunning location. Owner was beyond helpful and easy to contact. A great spot for accessing fantastic locations around Snowdonia. Will return!

Pros: Very cosy cottage, well equipped,clean, we found everything we needed including boarding games and a great collection of DVDs. Beautiful view of the mountains 😍. Good communication with the owners, very clear instructions.
