Very pleasant, couldn’t of asked for anything more

Pros: Beautiful location, the showers/toilet immaculately clean and new by the looks of them. The kitchen had everything I needed. The staff were really lovely, I had a long chat with one of the trustees (the 7th) oh wow what a wonderful lovely lady, you could tell she was very passionate about the workhouse, she was full of information.

Cons: I didn’t like having to walk through the male dorm to get to the kitchen (me being female i was in the female dorm). I did speak with the trustee about and she advised there is something in the pipeline to resolve that.

Good

Pros: I visited here for a ghost hunt. I liked the fact that I was staying at the place where we were doing our investigation and that I didn't have to travel anywhere afterwards. The room was what I expected. The kitchen facilities were good and the showers were good. It was just very cold.

Cons: Nothing to say.

Pros: Fantastic property with an amazing history to it. I was the only person there but really enjoyed my stay so much that I’ve booked a couple of nights for the next week.

Magical

Pros: The place is packed with history and it's beyond beautiful! Nice and cozy, good price for it too!

Cons: The kitchen was a bit abandoned but nothing too bad.

Very interesting place to stay, hope to come back at some point to explore the area more.

Pros: Having a guided tour of the museum/ workhuse really added to my enjoyment of the stay. I was the only occupnat and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Cons: Due to a communication failure with booking. com the room was not heated when I came, fine on the second night though.

If you like something unique and different, this is for you...just bring a jumper!

Pros: This is such an unusual place to stay, a historic workhouse in lovely countryside and when I got there I was the only guest! So I had the whole place to myself (and I thought it would be creepy - but it wasn't at all and I'm a scaredy cat!!!) If you are on foot like me the bus will drop you right outside (but note there is no service on Sundays) and the village has a great Spar shop for supplies plus a handy launderette and pubs/cafe's. There is a second-hand bookshop at the workhouse too and various events throughout the year, it's a bargain price too so give it a try!

Cons: I cannot lie...it was freezing!!!! The rooms have only electric heaters and I was there in the depths of winter..but there were blankets and I was totally cosy in bed and the super hot shower was heaven after braving the chilly bathroom, good for the circulation!! It was a real experience and I will remember it, come and stay so that the trust can buy more heaters!!
