Great stay in a beautiful building

Pros: This was a beautiful building in a perfect location right next to the castle we planned to visit. We managed to check in early which was great. The building was old but well heated. We enjoyed a beautiful breakfast which was reasonably priced. The staff were pleasant and amenable.

Cons: Not a complaint more an observation on the bar choice… Lager choice was limited to Camden draught and the pump was broken. There wasn’t a bottled alternative however they offered to send out for some, we had plans so couldn’t wait. Later the lads tried again but weren’t impressed with the draught on offer… and the bottle choice was non alco…maybe stock a wider choice of lager? Just a suggestion to maximise profit..but not a deal breaker for us

Lovely location

Pros: Great locations with all of Shrewsbury on your doorstep. The room was great size and the bathroom is lovely. The hotel building is truly stunning. Loved the fridge in the room

Cons: For a lot of our stay the hotel seemed to be without staff, the restaurant was closed. You have to unlock the front door yourself and lock it behind you. We were told that our complimentary water and refreshments would be replenished daily but they weren't. The room wasn't as clean as you'd expect, with dirty tissues on the floor under the bed and don't drop anything down the side of the sofa because its very dirty underneath! There is quite a bit of noise when the restaurant is actually open and from the street but this is understandable given the location.

Staff couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. Our room was ready for checkin when we arrived mid morning and it was

Pros: A lovely hotel with friendly staff. Location was perfect and the restaurant served cocktails and excellent food.

Lovely Palace

Pros: Staff! The gentleman that greeted us and the security lady was both very lovely and polite. Bedrooms are fine although they need real drawing room chairs in the room and not small stools. Also Tea trays need to be on appropriate tables and not ontop of buzzing fridges. I don't even think the fridges are necessary to honest. Unless you are providing items to put inside them which most people don't.

Cons: The lift situation was confusing when I come back at night a little half cut. I got lost and ended up on some random floor as the loft doesn't have basic buttons. They need instructions inside incase you forgot how to opporate.

Very attractive hotel near the centre of everything

Pros: The hotel is a converted church and the owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to maintain as many aspects of the church building as they can, for example there are several stone columns in the rooms and lobby areas and beautiful stain glassed windows throughout. the room itself was reasonably spacious and the bed was comfortable. Situated in a very convenient location for all the shops, pubs and restaurants. Would definitely recommend

Cons: The shower tray in our room didn't drain quickly enough which meant water would overflow if you stayed in the shower too long.
